This is where I was today. I helped pack carts with food and helped parents shop for toys for their kids via the Salvation Army. The event is called Toy for Joy. These families… kind and thankful… seeing how many of them were there, so many of them that were in need… it broke my heart. I wish there was more I could do. Afterwards, a few of my club members, one in particular was talking about how many club points this was worth. I wanted to slap him. (Out of the 3 members that I saw there, 2 of them, him included, aren’t too fond of me- or so it seems to me)This wasn’t about the points, or the extra thing to put on our college application, or making us feel better about ourselves, or getting rid of some of our bad karma. This was helping people for the sake of helping people. I did this for THEM. For their kids, for their families.
